March 30, 2014 – I’m still getting over the jet lag, but my trip to Berlin is quickly becoming one of my favorites in my opinion. I spontaneously decided to visit my former foreign exchange student and the closest thing I have to a sister, Luisa, for my week of spring break between quarters. I booked the trip back in October knowing that I would desperately need a change of scenery after winter – and goodness was I right! Between the crazy polar vortex weather in Chicago and my heavy load of tough classes and work, I was more than ready to board that plane and leave the US for a bit.
Berlin was the perfect reprieve, I was finally able to relax, which doesn’t happen often. And I was so happy to see Luisa in her own city. We did all the tourist things we could think of, but ultimately spent the most time finding cute coffee shops and seeking out good food. I’ve always been one to want to travel like a local anyway!
Take a look at my whirlwind of a week below:

I’m very happy to be back home in Chicago, but a part of me is really missing the European vibe. At least it solidifies that I will definitely love living there when I study abroad next year in Paris – and I’m sure I’ll have many more adventures with this lady as well. Prost!
XOXO,
Em
